Italy

One of the most beautiful and cultured countries in Europe, Italy continues to fascinate and enchant visitors. Ancient Roman architecture, mouth-watering cuisine and lush, evocative landscapes are just three of the reasons Italy is a favoured destination for so many.

Tuscany - birthplace of the Renaissance

Tuscany, or Toscana, lies in central Italy with miles of coastline and beaches on the Tyrrhenian Sea. Cypress tree-filled landscapes, green hills and dramatic mountain vistas make it a region of great natural beauty. It is not surprising therefore that it is a favoured holiday destination for many Italians. The area is renowned for its delicious Chianti wine, and its simple, rustic Mediterranean cuisine.

Tuscany's ancient cities are famed for their history and culture, preserved within buildings dating back to medieval times. Florence's unmissable Uffizi gallery holds some of the most remarkable works of the Renaissance by artists such as Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci. Other beautiful cities in the area include San Gimignano, Pisa and Siena.
Capri - ancient Roman History on a mythical island

Capri, located off the spectacular Amalfi coast, is a tiny island packed with history and atmosphere. In the shadow of Mount Vesuvius and surrounded by the glittering blue waters of the Bay of Naples, Capri is unlike anywhere else in Italy.

The island abounds in hills, cliffs, olive groves, lemon trees and vineyards, with beautiful views at every turn. Paths and steps offer countless opportunities to explore the island on foot, while churches, historic Roman villas, and a ruin or two offer sightseeing opportunities for the ambitious tourist. One of the most famous local attractions is the Grotta Azzura, where midnight-blue waters reflect the shimmering opaline walls.

Caprese cuisine is based on the freshest fish and seafood, hearty pasta dishes and locally grown citrus fruits, olives and tomatoes. Don't miss an opportunity to try Limoncello, a sharp lemon liqueur that is traditionally drunk after espresso.
